About
When asked about retail therapy, people have strong reactions. Some glaze over and say “Yeah…” their minds already scouring the racks at Neimans. Others jerk away, “Who me? No! Not my thing… No money… etc”. But the naysayers are lying. The pack of gum in their purse, the latte in their hand, the app on their iPhone – all retail therapy.
We define retail therapy as the act of buying anything that you don’t actually need. If it is not food, shelter, clothing or another item vital to your survival, it’s probably retail therapy. We buy to make ourselves more comfortable, to remember, to share, to love, to hope, to grieve. We are hunters and gatherers. We shop, therefore we are.
Every kid who’s been to the doctor knows that a lollipop goes a long way to making those shots feel better. Consider Popshopology your lollipop dispenser at the end of a long hard day. The Doctor is always in.
